Big Black Boots has been selling boots since 1985 and online since 1995. We were the first boot store on the internet! But after 34 years we have retired.

We've closed our web store. But are keeping our web site up to provide you with much more detailed information than available at the manufacturers' web sites. And we also have exhaustive information on sizing and how to measure your feet and legs for tall boots.

We've removed pricing info since you can get more up to date prices from the manufacturer's web sites. But we're keeping the prices for the various options here since it's sometimes hard to get that information until you order a custom pair of boots. The options prices may be out of date but they don't change as often or as much as the actual boot prices.

We're also keeping the website order forms up because they contain lots of useful information which may not be available on the manufacturer's website. These contain a lot of information which can help when you order directly from Wesco or Dehner. Of course, the order forms no longer accept orders or payments.

Our email address at will be kept active so customers can contact us in the future.

Our customer lists and records are NOT for sale.

Thanks for being such great customers over the years. It's been a pleasure helping you get into great boots that fit well.

It's all on this page. Scroll down to see everything.

The Jobmaster is the workhorse of the Wesco boot line. Five configurations of this boot are kept in stock.

Combat boots: We're now able to build a custom version of this Jobmaster logger boot as a combat boot with black eyelets, black lacing studs, black stitching and black laces to comply with military uniform regulations. The combat boot version comes with a lower heel as well.

Of course, we can also build them with rough-out desert tan leather (Wesco Color=Burlap) with low heels and a tan Vibram lug sole. These options can be specified on any custom order and are available to anyone... you don't have to be in the military to get these. Click here to see our page on these custom combat boots.

There's also a special version of this boot called the Firestormer™ which is widely used by wildland fire fighters. Click here to go the the Firestormer boot page.

If you can't find the combination of size, width, height, color, sole etc that you want in the stock boots, Wesco will make a custom pair to your specifications. And there are many option choices and add ons on the custom versions. You just have to be a bit patient while the bootmaker builds your custom boots.

The Jobmaster Boot:

Redwood lace-to-toe Jobmaster

This is the classic boot worn by loggers, park rangers, forestry workers, wildland fire fighters, engineers, surveyors, oil-field workers, ranch hands, hikers, motorcyclists and mild-mannered systems analysts. If you've ever watched forest firefighters at work, you've seen these boots in action.

Wesco builds these boots on special lasts expressly designed for producing high quality work boots. The foot area is lined by a smooth inner leather layer which contributes to the strength and comfort of the boot. This extra layer of leather complements the careful fit and excellent arch support. Our new customers are often surprised when they discover how comfortable these sturdy boots are!

What's the Difference Between Lineman & Logger Boots?

The Lineman Boot is essentially a Logger Boot with 4 added features which customize it to its job of protecting the boots from poles & trees and from the climbing irons worn by linemen.

Leather Side Patch & Steel Side Plate
Protects the boot from telephone poles, trees and motorcycle shift levers
Steel Breast Plate
This recessed plate in the heel protects against climbing irons
Leather Half Slip
This extra insole component provides additional support in the arch

* We don't recommend the 6" Jobmaster boots. The top of the boot is at ankle height.
The combination of an unpadded boot top and unpadded ankle can lead to pressure points
and discomfort for some.

About ordering from BIG BLACK BOOTS

How do I know what size to order? ( clue -- order the same size as your feet )

About the boots' sizing - how they fit:

Wesco boots are designed to be worn with boot socks. When worn that way they are true to your US men's size as measured on a Brannock measuring device. So order these boots in your true size or ½ size larger to accommodate multiple or extra heavy socks. It's OK for these lace-up boots to be slightly large since the lacing system will help ensure a proper fit. Being slightly large also gives you more latitude in choosing thicker or thinner socks.

About the boot's height:

To determine where the top of the boot will be on your leg, measure up from the heel of your stockinged feet along the back of your leg. This should be done while in a seated position with the knee bent at a 90° angle.

The initial height of Highliner lineman boots and Jobmaster logger boots will be 1" shorter than specified. e.g. if you order a 16" boot, it will come up 15" from your heel.

As they break in, these boots will stay very close to their initial height.

To convert from centimeters to inches, divide the height in centimeters by 2.54

So you need to order boots made with this last ½ size smaller than you would normally order for a Wesco boot made with the normal logger heel.
