Vanson Classic Leather Jackets Fit and Sizing This page provides detailed instructions to help you choose the correct size Vanson classic leather jacket. The Vanson Sport Rider jackets fit differently from these Vanson classic jackets, so we've provided a separate page to help you size those jackets. Click here to see the size / fit page for Vanson Sport Rider jackets. Vanson uses the U.S. men's sizing system which is based on the chest size expressed in inches. Thus, if you have a 42 inch chest, you're jacket size is supposed to be size 42... however Vanson Classic leather jackets are designed to fit snugly over tight jeans and a t-shirt. So you need to use the information and table below to determine your correct size for a tight fitting jacket. Then you probably should to go up one size from the size you get using these tables. Since, everyone's body's proportions are slightly different, two charts are provided to help you pick the size which will fit you best. The first chart gives you a recommended size based on your chest and waist measurements. The second chart lets you verify that three other measurements will fit correctly with the jacket size you've chosen. All dimensions are expressed in inches. If you measure in centimeters, divide the measurements taken in centimeters by 2.54 to convert to inches. The first chart is entered with the waist size at the top (turquoise color) and the chest size on the left (yellow color). The intersection of the waist column and chest row gives the recommended jacket size. The 3 other measurements are then checked in the second chart which is entered on the left with the chest size used in the first chart. You can verify that the three other measurements fall within the range for the chosen jacket size. You will need 5 measurements to ensure an accurate fit. It's best to have someone else take the measurements (and more fun!)
How men should measure their chest:Men should measure around the fullest part of the chest with tape parallel to the floor, and with arms at sides. This is typically just under the armpits. To get a more accurate measurement, raise arms above head, wrap tape around chest and then lower arms. Be sure that the tape has not moved down in the back. When the measurement is taken the tape should be just snug enough to stay in place without slipping down. How to measure your waist:Measure around the waist at the navel / bellybutton. Make sure the tape is parallel to the floor. Do not measure at your hips! This measurement will ensure that your jacket will fit correctly at the waist. The lowest part of the jacket, where it goes over the hips, is adjustable using the leather laced adjustment system. These waists and chest measurements determine the size jacket you should order. The table below shows the recommended U.S. men's jacket size for each combination of waist and chest size. Sizing Table Number 1All dimensions are shown in inches. 1 inch = 2.54 centimetersUsing these measuring instructions in the size table below will lead you to choose a jacket which fits snugly over a t-shirt and tight jeans.
