This table shows the U.S. men's size range for the Wesco Motor Patrol boots made with the standard, dressy "V" shaped toe. Boots made with this last are not quite true to size. They are about ½ size larger than specified. So, if your feet are US men's size 10½ you should order these boots in size 10.

This table shows the U.S. men's size range for Wesco Motor Patrol boots made with the optional round toe last which is used for the Wesco Jobmaster, Highliner, Boss and Firestormer boots.

This last fits true to size. You should order boots made with this last in the same size as your foot.

These boots will be custom made for your order, so please don't estimate or guess your size. Please measure your feet. Click here for advice on measuring. The table on the right shows the maximum calf size for each boot size.

Wesco Boot Size: ( U.S. men's sizing )

Wesco Boot Width:

Our sizing advice assumes that you wear boot socks with these boots.

Wesco boots normally run true to your US Men's size and these will if you specify the round toe style.

However, these motor patrol boots when made on a dress last with a "V" shaped toe instead of the round toe will be about a half size larger than marked.. You'll find that these motor patrol boots fit more snugly in the sides of the toe area because the dress last which is used for these boots has a narrower toe profile than other Wesco boots. The boot toes are also proportionally longer for an equivalent size because they are less round and more pointed in shape. This means that these boots tend to fit slightly more loosely in length than the other Wesco boots. Because of this, these boots run about a half size or more large.

So a size 10 D Wesco Motor Patrol boot will feel like a size 10½ D Wesco Boss engineer boot. Maybe even a bit larger. And, because of the nature of "V" shaped toes, you can order a full size lower than your actual size with no fear of your toes hitting the end of the boot... they'll just be squeezed in a bit more on the sides.

Height of boot:

To determine where the top of the boot will be on your leg, measure up from the heel of your stockinged feet along the back of your leg. This should be done while in a seated position with the knee bent at a 90° angle.

The initial height of Wesco Motor Patrol boots will be at the 14", 16", 18" or 20" point you measured on the back of your leg. They may even be slightly higher... see the note below.

As they break in, the boots will drop very little at the ankles and will stay quite close to their initial height. This is because they have a 4 Oz. leather lining which keeps the shaft stiff and reduces the tendency to accordion at the ankles.

Note that the Motor Patrol boots will be higher than the specified height of 14", 16", 18" or 20" by about 1.75 inches on the outside of the boots and by about 1 inch on the front of the boots. This is because of the Spanish top which is higher on the front and outside than on the back. Stated another way, the specified height of these boots is measured along the back.

Note: Please check your calf size to ensure that your legs will fit comfortably in the shaft of a standard Motor Patrol boot. See the calf size chart above and the instructions for measuring your calf circumference on the Wesco Motor Patrol Boot page. We can, at extra cost, adjust the size of the boot shafts. That option is shown below.

To convert from centimeters to inches, divide the height in centimeters by 2.54.

Buckle Choices for Boots with Straps

For boots with straps, you can choose any of the buckle types shown below.
This is a no cost option.

The default is solid nickel buckles on black boots and solid brass
plated buckle on all others.

For these custom boots, you can choose the default or specify your choice.
We recommend the roller buckles. They work well and look great.

If you're wondering, the "Ox" in some of the buckle names means they
are oxidized to give a satin / matte appearance.

If you want to mix and match buckle types on the top and instep that would
be a fashion violation but Wesco will do it. Put a note in the remarks.

You can supply your own buckles if you'd like. Email us for instructions.
The instep strap uses ⅞" size - the top strap uses ⅝" size.
They must be center bar buckles.

Finally... if you choose the Wesco logo buckle it's used on the instep strap
and the Solid Nickel buckle is used on the top straps.

Toe Shape

A size 10 D Wesco Motor Patrol boot made with the dress toe will feel like a size 10½ D Wesco Boss engineer boot. Maybe even a bit larger. Our advice is to go down one half size from your actual foot measurement when you choose the dress toe style on these motor patrol boots. In other words, these boots with the dress toe are about a half size larger than marked.

But, if you choose the option for the round toe like the Wesco Boss engineer boots, then these boots will fit true to size just like the Wesco Boss engineer boots and Wesco lace-up boots do.

Extra Midsoles:

You can add an extra ¼ inch / 6 mm thick midsole which runs from toe to heel and makes the entire sole construction ¼" / 6 mm thicker. This is the extra midsole which is used in the Big Black boots Super Boss boots. The extra leather midsole is stiffer -- the extra EVA rubber midsole is more flexible and lighter. EVA rubber is the material normally used to make midsoles for boots and athletic shoes.

When this extra midsole is added, the sole assembly is too thick to be sewn all the way through the Vibram outsole which is normal for all Wesco boots. So the boots are built like most other boots. The sole is sewn through the midsole assembly then the outer Vibram outsole is glued on using standard bootmaking procedures. There is one advantage to this... it is easier to replace the outsole when it needs replacement.

Standard Boots - no extra midsole
Extra ¼" / 6 mm EVA rubber midsole ( $34 )
Extra ¼" / 6 mm leather midsole ( $34 )

Soles

The soles below work with all heel heights - Click here to see soles.
Soles are black unless a color is specified in the description.

#100 Vibram Heavy Lug Sole
#430 Vibram Mini-Lug Sole
#700 brown Vibram non-lugged Sole
#100F Vibram Heavy Lug Sole (fire resistant / oil resistant) ( $15 )
#100H Honey Vibram Heavy Lug Sole (tan version of the #100) ( $13 )
#705 brown Vibram retro Half Sole ($33)
Dark Brown Leather with rubber heel ($36)
Caution - these soles are slippery and wear quickly

If you decide to have your boots made with any of the above soles and a heel which is one or two lifts lower or higher, there is a charge to custom build the heels to modify their height.

The Vibram® "Raptor" single piece, cushioned wedge, unisoles below work with low heel heights only - Click here to see soles

Vibram Raptor Black Uni-Sole
Vibram Raptor Chocolate Uni-Sole
Vibram Raptor Camel Uni-Sole
Vibram Raptor Malt Uni-Sole

If you decide to have your boots built with these unisoles which have a sole and heel molded in one unit, there is no charge for lowering the heel since the bootmaker doesn't need to build a custom low heel using fewer lifts.
